Gas prices, the Rodman Dam, and the Zulu Squad are all in the headlines today.  

  Welcome to WJCT First Read, your daily weekday morning round-up of stories from the First Coast, around Florida, and across the country. We'll also preview some of WJCT's upcoming news programming.

Today's Weather
In Jacksonville there's going to be dense fog until 10 a.m. The rest of the day will be mostly cloudy, with a high temperature near 67 degrees. Tonight there will be cloudy skies, a 20 percent chance of showers, and a low around 54 degrees.

At the Beaches there will be a 20 percent chance of showers after 4 p.m. Skies will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 65 degrees. Tonight, low will be around 55 degrees. There will be a 20 percent chance of showers, and skies will be cloudy. (National Weather Service)

Florida lawmakers asking for feedback on how to enact Water and Land Conservation Amendment. The amendment, which voters added to the Florida Constitution last year sets aside a third of documentary stamp revenue to go for environmental programs. (WJCT via WLRN)

St. Johns Riverkeeper and JaxPort find compromise over channel dredging. The Riverkeeper will drop opposition to the dredging project in exchange for the Rodman Dam in Putnam County being removed. (News4Jax)

Clay County high school website hacked. A group that identified itself as the Zulu Squad allegedly took down Oakleaf High School's website and replaced the home page. (News4Jax)

Gas prices in Jacksonville drop below $2 per gallon at some stores. The average price for gas around Jacksonville dropped to $2.19 per gallon yesterday as the price of oil fell below $50 a barrel. Low demand and high production are causing the low prices. (The Florida Times-Union)

Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors distributors involved in lawsuit to stop issuing licenses for craft breweries. The group filing the suit against the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation claims that the breweries are incorrectly receiving licenses under a law that was passed to benefit Anheuser-Busch to allow it to serve beer at Busch Gardens.
