Red Cross Offers Jacksonville Residents Free Fire Alarms

American Red Cross

The American Red Cross is hoping to help Jacksonville residents prevent house fires.

Red Cross regional CEO Patrick Shea says free fire alarms are available for residents.

“It is a five-year campaign that strives to reduce death and serious injury resulting from home fires by 25 percent on a national level,” he says.

Red Cross volunteers are visiting homes to help determine who needs new ones.  Shea says the Red Cross aims to install 4,300 smoke alarms in Northeast Florida. After a year-and-a-half, it’s installed 3,200 already.

People can sign up for the free fire alarms by filling out a form online or by calling the Red Cross at 904-358-8091.
