Florida State College at Jacksonville is looking for people with great ideas to speak at the school’s TEDx event this year.
TED, which stands for Technology-Entertainment-Design, is a kind of global think tank for people who want to share their knowledge and experiences with a world-wide audience. The ‘X’ brings TED down to the local level.
Paul Hendrickson is a professor of speech and philosophy and the organizer of TEDxFSCJ.
“In Jacksonville," Hendrickson says, "we have many communities, many people with lots of ideas, that’s sort of what makes it exciting living here. There’s sort of all these great entrepreneurs of the mind, all these things bubbling around and this is an opportunity to share them.”
Speaker applications are being accepted now through May 14.
The TEDx event is set for Saturday, October 8 at FSCJ. Hendrickson says that means the eight or 10 speakers selected will have plenty of time to finesse their presentations with the help of FSCJ faculty.?
