The Duval County School Board is divided over Superintendent Nikolai Vitti’s call for open enrollment. It’s a plan to allow parents to enroll students in any public school they want, even outside their neighborhoods.
Vitti says the district should give parents more choices in how their kids are educated within the district, and open enrollment would reduce how many students the school system loses each year to charter and private schools.
