A new candidate has entered the ring in the race to become mayor of Jacksonville.City Councilman Bill Bishop, former City Council president, says he’ll run against Mayor Alvin Brown in 2015.
Bishop told the Florida Times-Union and the Daily Record he thinks he can "get the city moving."
He will join what is expect to become a crowded field that could include Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford, Republican Party of Florida Chairman Lenny Curry, and and Duval County Property Appraiser Jim Overton, among others.
Joining us on our regular Friday media roundtable to discuss this and other stories is our panel of local journalists:
- Cliff Davis, Florida Times-Union reporter
- Tim Gibbons, Jacksonville Business Journal editor
- A.G. Gancarski, Folio Weekly columnist
Additional topics include the statewide debate over Medicaid expansion, Duval County Public Schools Superintendent Nikolai Vitti's proposal to add sixth grade to four city elementary schools, and the slow moving process to redevelop the Laura Street Trio.
