New UNF Survey Finds Domestic Violence Issues Could Be Costly For NFL

A new survey from the University of North Florida finds that problems with domestic abuse among the NFL's players could begin affecting the league where it hurts the most - in the wallet.

According to the survey, a majority of fans strongly agreed that the NFL has a domestic violence problem and that the league should be concerned about losing its female fan base. Over half of those surveyed also felt that the NFL's corporate sponsors should be concerned about losing female consumers.

The new report comes days after embattled NFL commissioner Roger Goodell admitted that he has made mistakes in handling the problem but refused calls to step down.

At the same time, the NFL Players Association is appealing the indefinite suspension of former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice after video surfaced of him punching his then girlfriend, now wife, Janay.

Dr. Kristi Sweeney and Dr. Elizabeth Gregg, assistant professors in the Department of Leadership, School of Counseling and Sport Management at UNF and the authors of this new survey, joined Melissa Ross to discuss their findings.
