06/26/15: Media Roundtable Week In Review; JU And Brooks Parternership; Stonewall In The Park Event

We discuss the week's biggest news stories with our roundtable of local journalists: Tonyaa Weathersbee, Florida Times-Union columnist;  Tim Gibbons, Jacksonville Business Journal editor; A.G. Gancarski, Folio Weekly and Florida Politics columnist; and David Chapman, Daily Record reporter.

Topics include local items in the state's budget vetoed by Gov. Rick Scott, the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on the Affordable Care Act, the Confederate Flag and more.

Jacksonville University’s College of Health Sciences has been renamed the Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences. The distinction is to honor the largest single gift in the health science college’s history, $4 million over several years by Brooks Rehabilitation. We discuss how this alliance will impact health care in this area with Dr. Christine Sapienza, Dean of JU’s College of Health Sciences, and Doug Baer, CEO of Brooks Rehabilitation Center.

Kevin Roberts of First Coast Sisters joins us with a preview of the “Stonewall in the Park” gay pride event in Hemming Park this weekend, celebrating the progress the nation has made since the Stonewall Riots of 1969. That unrest followed the raiding of the Stonewall Inn, a gay club in New York, and is seen as a turning point in the gay rights movement.
