Our Media Roundtable of Dan Scanlan from the Florida Times-Union; Fred Mathews of the Examiner; Tim Gibbons of Jacksonville Business Journal; and A.G. Gancarski of Florida Politics joined guest host Ryan Benk to talk about State Rep. Reggie Fullwood, who pled guilty to mail fraud. Benk also spoke with Michael Fisher and Pastor Steve Goyer from Riverside Presbyterian Church about Sunday’s screening of the documentary “Father Joseph” at SunRayTheatre. Linda Boucard, a close associate of Father Joseph Philippe joined us by phone from Washington D.C. We also spoke with Hospice of the Golden Isles vice president of development Mary Crosby about next weekend’s St. Simons Island Food and Spirits Festival that raises funds for the hospice.
Media Roundtable
Our panel discussed the surprise move by Fullwood to plead guilty and thereby soon to be forced from office. They discussed what the impact might be on Election Day and next year in Tallahassee. They also discussed Monday’s debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and its impact on the race for President.
Father Joseph
Philippe helped set up the bank Fonkoze in Haiti, which along with loaning money to the poor, also helps them learn to read, write and handle financial matters. Fisher, Goyer and Boucard spoke about the work of Philippe and his impact on the Haitian people.
St. Simons Island Food and Spirits Festival
Crosby spoke about the work of the hospice and its connection to the festival. The hospice has been serving the needs of southeast Georgia for 30 years. The festival features a barbecue cooking contest and wide variety of beverage tastings.
