District 4 Republican Congressional candidate John Rutherford joined the program Wednesday to talk about the issues and his campaign. We also spoke with Sarah Miller, director of the Northeast and East Central regions of the Florida Public Archeology Network, and Emily Jane Murray, public archaeology coordinator, about how climate change is endangering historic archaeological sites in Florida. Generation WOW founder Donna Orender joined us to discuss an upcoming workshop to help help young women, and we celebrated World Pumpkin Day with Forking Amazing Restaurants Executive Pastry Chef Michael Bump.

When longtime Florida congressman Ander Crenshaw announced his retirement this spring, he launched a scramble to replace him in Washington. Former Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford announced his candidacy for the job and quickly won the support of many major Republican officials in the district. Rutherford talked about why he supports Donald Trump for President and his economic and military support plans.
Archeology Network
It’s a program focused on a vital mission: saving Florida’s archaeological sites threatened by sea level rise. The University of West Florida’s Florida Public Archaeology Network, like many local, state and federal agencies, is mobilizing to protect state resources threatened by rising seas and the impact of climate change on Florida, the nation’s most vulnerable state.
Generation WOW
Generation WOW is set for November 2nd on the UNF campus- an empowering afternoon of networking and education for high school girls.
Similar to Generation W, this area’s women’s leadership conference, there will be workshops focused on girls and issues that are important to them.
National Pumpkin Day
Wednesday is National Pumpkin Day celebrating the popularity of this squash cultivar. Its use has expanded well beyond Halloween and Thanksgiving dinner. Chef Michael Bump spoke about some of the trend of using pumpkin in a variety of different and new ways.
