Tuesday we looked at the likelihood of curing Jacksonville’s violence issues by treating crime as a public health issue.
We were joined by Ben Frazier, who runs the Northside Coalition of Jacksonville. He discussed the Cure Violence program, which Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry is investigating as one possible solution to successfully lowering crime.
The program has been used in other U.S. cities including Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia and Baltimore.
Curry has set aside $7,500 of his mayor’s contingency fund to pay for an assessment from the Cure Violence organization.
