8/5/19: Gun Reform; Agent Orange Town Hall; Cole Pepper

St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office

There have been 251 mass shootings in the U.S. this year, so far, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

Two mass shootings over the weekend in different cities across America have the nation reeling. As cries for gun reform grow louder, President Donald Trump is now calling for stronger background checks on gun purchases.

Daniel Conrath, Professor of Political Science at Florida State College at Jacksonville, who is also the former Regional Director for Mayors Against Illegal Guns, joined us for a closer look.

Agent Orange Town Hall

A town hall looking at the effects of Agent Orange is taking place this Wednesday on the UNF campus.

Agent Orange was a tactical herbicide used by the U.S. military from 1962 to 1975, named for the orange band around the storage barrel. The military sprayed millions of gallons of Agent Orange and other tactical herbicides on trees and vegetation during the Vietnam War. There is a whole range of diseases associated with exposure to Agent Orange.

The town hall is an opportunity for local veterans to get information, and also learn about potential claims they may have a right to. Retired U.S. Navy Captain Bob Buehn, Director, UNF Military and Veterans Resource Center; and Char Miller, Director of Marketing and Communications at Community Hospice & Palliative Care, joined us with more information.

Cole Pepper

Cole Pepper joined us with all the latest on the Jaguars. Yannick Ngakoue is back in training camp, just in time for the team's trip to Baltimore.
