The Jacksonville City Council is set to vote Tuesday evening on whether to approve a half-cent sales tax referendum to shore up aging local school buildings.
Educators and activists have been speaking out for months now about the need for the money for schools. At the same time, charter school advocates have been pushing for a piece of the potential funding for their schools.
However the vote goes down, one issue that’s gotten lost in the debate is how school repair and construction will affect the many local kids with disabilities. Jacksonville Attorney Rebekah Hope represents families of children with disabilities and joined us to discuss that subject.
