Local civil rights groups say it’s because City Hall isn’t on board with their vision for honoring Dr. King. Charles Griggs of the 100 Black Men of Jacksonville, and a WJCT board member and contributor gave us his take on the topic.

Additional Information

Jesse Cook

Award-winning Master Guitarist Jesse Cook will be performing at the WJCT Soundstage next Tuesday night, in partnership with the Florida Theatre. To purchase tickets, visit wjct.org/events.

Direct Primary Care

A local physician is leading the way in using a new healthcare model that doesn’t involve insurance. It’s called direct primary care. Patients have one physician and are able to have 24/7 access to them. Patients are also able to pay for medications and labs at a wholesale rate, since they are paying with cash. The idea is to save patients money, and, for doctors to move away from control by hospital systems. Dr. Tanya Reimschissel of Arise Direct Primary Care visited to tell us more.
