Do you have your mother's dimples? Or your father's hairline? What makes us, us? And how much of it sets us apart from every other living thing on Earth?

Genome: Unlocking Life's Code begins to unravel the mystery behind the complete set of instructions needed for every living thing on Earth to grow and function: the genome.  It’s a collaboration between Mayo Clinic and the Museum of Science and History (MOSH).

Visitors discover how genomes could be the key to maximizing a person's future quality of life as genomic science helps open the way to more personalized healthcare. We welcomed MOSH Curator Paul Bourcier and Veronique Belzil, Assistant Professor Translational Genomics, Epigenomics & Transcriptomics Lab, from Mayo Clinic.

Sadowski Trust Fund

The Florida Legislature is in session, and one bill being closely watched by advocates for the state’s homeless population has to do with the Sadowski Trust Fund. We welcomed Robert Cowie with Mercy Support Services to tell us more.

The bill would make it impossible for the legislature to sweep the funds away from affordable housing and use the money elsewhere. The Sadowski Trust Fund is a dedicated revenue fund that helps pay for local and state housing programs in Florida.

Geriatric Toothfairy

Seniors in Florida and around the country are dying because of a hidden epidemic: poor oral health care.

We spoke with Sonya Dunbar, the founder of Geriatric Toothfairy. Her S.O.S. initiative, Saving Our Seniors One Smile At A Time, is dedicated to achieving the goal of helping at-risk seniors improve their oral health care.
