Protestors in Downtown Jacksonville Saturday, May 30

Thousands of protesters took to the streets in Jacksonville on Saturday to demand justice for George Floyd and transparency around the police-involved shooting deaths of three black men in the city over the last six months.

The protests began peacefully, but as the day wore on, tensions grew, leading to violence, damage, and arrests. On Sunday, more protests took place Downtown, prompting Mayor Curry to issue a city-wide curfew Sunday night.

Ben Frazier of the Northside Coalition, who helped spearhead Saturday’s protest; Regular Contributor Charles Griggs; And WJCT’s Sky Lebron, who covered Saturday’s protests, joined us for a closer look.

Hubbard House

Hubbard House is working to get domestic violence survivors the help they need in two new ways this week: a virtual walk and the reopening of it’s Outreach Center to walk-ins. CEO Gail Patin gave us the  details.
