RNC Fundraising Woes; Food Insecurity; Ask Nurses & Doctors; 'Electro Lounge' Goes 24/7

Florida has topped 200,000 coronavirus cases.

The increasing spread of COVID-19 is taking place as part of the Republican National Convention is still scheduled to take place in Jacksonville in late August.

 

The virus is not the only challenge organizers are facing. According to a report in the New York Times, fundraising woes are also plaguing the event. Annie Karni, a White House Correspondent for the New York Times, and one of the journalists who penned the report, joined us with more.

Food Insecurity

The pandemic and the spike in unemployment means many more people are food insecure on the First Coast. Bill Brim, Executive Director of Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida, joined us with information on how his organization is stepping up to help.

Ask Nurses & Doctors

Healthcare professionals in Northeast Florida continue to speak out about the covid pandemic and their concerns about how it’s being handled in the Sunshine State.

Ask Nurses & Doctors is a local new group of health care professionals that’s voicing concerns. Two of their members, Dr. Donald George, Emeritus Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Nemours’ Children’s Subspecialty Care; and Dana Ferrell Birchfield, Executive Director of the Florida Association of Childrens Hospitals, joined us with more.

 

'Electro Lounge' Changes

After 15 years, WJCT's “Electro Lounge” radio program is becoming “Electro Lounge Radio 24/7” as WJCT expands is music and news offerings.

 

This change will take place Monday, July 13, when WJCT 89.9 FM completes its transition to an all news/information format. WJCT Station Manager and “Electro Lounge” Creator David Luckin joined us with more information WJCT's Jacksonville Music Experience.
