Concerns About Reopening Schools; Hugh Greene On Medicaid; Cummer Museum

Despite the steady rise in new coronavirus cases, area schools are still planning to open on August 10, for both brick and mortar and virtual classes.

Many educators, parents and even students are questioning this decision. As are some local doctors. We spoke with two local experts on kids and infectious disease. Dr. Mobeen Rathore, a prominent local pediatrician and co-chair of the Baptist Health System Infection Prevention and Control Committee; and Dr. Jeffrey Goldhagen, a pediatrician and the former Director of the Duval County Health Department joined us.

Medicaid

The COVID-19 crisis has shed a light on the consequences of not expanding Medicaid in Florida. Hugh Greene, the former CEO of Baptist Health and a new WJCT News contributor, joined us with his thoughts on the subject.

Cummer Museum & Gardens

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardensis moving into Phase 2 of its reopening plan, and will be reopening its galleries to the public on Tuesday. It is also continuing with some of its virtual programs, such as “Live from the Cummer: Connecting Art and Music.” Cara Bowyer, Director of Visitor Experience at The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens discussed what visitors can expect.
