If Federal Benefits Expire More Evictions Are Expected

More than 32 million people have been collecting an extra $600 a week in federal unemployment benefits thanks to the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security ) Act.

But with that funding currently scheduled to expire at the end of the month, concerns about potential evictions are rising.

Zillow Economist Jeff Tucker said more than half of Jacksonville’s renters would face a severe housing burden if the additional unemployment benefit expired. He joined us with a look at the numbers.
