Some local physicians have formed the Northeast Florida Population Health Consortium, which is aimed at improving our public health and tackling serious health inequities in this community.
They said they’re taking action because of what they see as a failure of our political systems and institutions to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, and the recession that it has caused.
Dr. Jeff Goldhagen, Partnership for Child Health and, Dr. Rogers Cain, MD, Northeast Florida Medical Society, joined us to discuss the consortium in more detail.

Many Florida businesses have furloughed a portion, or all of their employees due to the pandemic, and residents are seeking reemployment where their current skill sets match demand from employers.
However, it is evident that this crisis will further widen the divide between current skills and reemployment, or even advancement in the workplace – so education leaders have identified an opportunity to raise awareness?about Career and Technical Education (CTE) as a modern approach to higher education and training for students in every walk of life.
It’s called “Get There,” and it’s a workforce initiative powered by the Florida Department of Education. Henry Mack, Chancellor for Career, Technical and Adult Education at the Florida Department of Education, joined us with details.

The Northeast Florida AIDS Network has supported HIV positive people on the First Coast for many years. One of the ways they do that is through their annual Dining Out for Life event, where you go out to eat, and the restaurants on their list send part of the proceeds to the organization.
Now, NFAN is giving back to those eateries, by asking us to do something simple: just go out to eat at a 'Dining Out' restaurant this month, turn in the receipt to NFAN and be eligible for a fantastic prize drawing. Stephen Jones of NFAN joined us with more on the program.
