Local watchdog group OurJax is calling for a timeout on Lot J development.
The group, which first formed over the failed attempt to sell JEA, is urging the City Council to pursue due diligence before finalizing plans to give $233 million in taxpayer money to Shad Khan’s proposed development in the Sports Complex.
Proponents argue that developing Lot J will create jobs and stimulate the economy. Opponents counter that Jaguars owner Shad Khan should not receive taxpayer money unless he renews his leases around the city. The return on investment is a big question and some argue the public money should instead go to things like free school lunches, healthcare, or public housing.

MOCA Family Day
