The group, which first formed over the failed attempt to sell JEA, is urging the City Council to pursue due diligence before finalizing plans to give $233 million in taxpayer money to Shad Khan’s proposed development in the Sports Complex.
Proponents argue that developing Lot J will create jobs and stimulate the economy. Opponents counter that Jaguars owner Shad Khan should not receive taxpayer money unless he renews his leases around the city. The return on investment is a big question and some argue the public money should instead go to things like free school lunches, healthcare, or public housing.

But, for the first time in half a century, Duval County flipped blue in the presidential election, despite down-ballot elections remaining mostly red.

MOCA Family Day
This Saturday, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) hosts Family Day from 11 AM to 3 PM with live music, kids’ activities, and free admission. Musical guests include Mal Jones with the Lyrists Live and DJ Enerji. Activity partners include the Jacksonville Zoo and the Art League of Jacksonville.
