COVID Restrictions; Coronavirus In India; Car Show; What's Good Wednesdays
Some Florida officials are voicing their outrage over Gov. Ron DeSantis' suspension of all local COVID-19 emergency orders. The Republican governor issued the executive order Monday, as the state has 28.27% of the population fully vaccinated, according to Johns Hopkins coronavirus data.
Businesses can still mandate patrons wear masks and practice social distancing, and the order does not apply to schools. Still, mayors around the state are criticizing the governor’s move. Dr. Michelle Aquino, a hospitalist at Baptist Health, joined us with more.
COVID In India
The pandemic is still active worldwide, but in India, the coronavirus crisis is especially acute. India accounted for one in four coronavirus deaths recorded around the world last week, the World Health Organization said. We spoke with UNF’s Parvez Ahmed about the horrific death toll in his homeland.
Jacksonville International Auto Show
The Jacksonville International Auto Show will transform the Prime Osborn Convention Center into North Florida’s largest new car showroom this weekend.
After a pandemic year that saw the auto industry bouncing back and sales recovering, this will be a one-stop-shop where attendees can compare features, options, and stylings from more than 20 car lines. Show producer Lowell Briggs joined us with a preview.
