Jaguars To Take On Eagles In London In October

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars will return to London next season to play the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a NFL announcement.

The upcoming game will mark the sixth time the Jaguars have played across the pond.

The 2018 matchup will be played either in week seven (October 21) or week eight (October 28). The schedule for upcoming NFL season is still being finalized.

This will be the Eagles first time playing in London.

The Jaguars are 3-2 in London games, as they ride a three-game winning streak. There are over 75,000 UK fans of the Jaguars, according to the team.

The rising Jacksonville AFC team has been playing in London since 2013, with a contract between the NFL and Jaguars Owner Shan Khan to have the team have one meeting a season in the United Kingdom. This contract has been extended to 2020, meaning more London games for the Jaguars.

This year, the Jaguars snapped a late two-game regular season skid, with a 10-3 victory over the Buffalo Bills, Jan.7 in the AFC Wild Card Round to continue its postseason run.

While the offensive flow took a little while to get going, the Jaguars’ defensive presence remained as firm since the team’s upset victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in week five.

Both the Steelers and the Jaguars have been preparing for the rematch and have touched on the issues that were seen in the previous meeting.

Unlike the first meeting, the Jaguars and Steelers have changed their game. Impactful players are returning and some have gone down with injuries.  Another element neither team can control is the weather. The current forecast high for Sunday is just 16 degrees under partly sunny skies.

Head coach Doug Marrone described the Steelers as a stacked bunch because of the eight pro-bowlers on the roster. Jacksonville has four pro-bowlers of their own, all who are exclusively defensive threats.

Gametime for the Jaguars-Steelers AFC divisional round in Pittsburgh is 1:05 p.m. on Sunday.
