Jacksonville Honors Veterans With Wide Range Of Events

City of Jacksonville

Veterans Day is this Sunday but the city of Jacksonville has already been honoring those who served in the armed forces.

This year’s “Celebration of Valor” activities in Jacksonville include educational, patriotic, and civic events.

City of Jacksonville Military and Veteran Affairs Director Bill Spann talked about them on First Coast Connect Wednesday.

“We’ve got 20 events over eight weeks surrounding in and around Veterans Day. And of course as you mentioned, the parade is on Monday. In deference to local religious leaders downtown we didn’t want to take away their congregations potentially and also possible sporting events.”

The city’s Veteran’s Day Parade starts at 11:01 Monday morning at TIAA Bank stadium.
