Starting this week and continuing through mid-November, St. Augustine drivers will see lane shifts and intermittent closures along West Castillo Avenue to allow for heavy equipment and machinery maneuvering due to construction at the site of the future San Marco Hotel.
Lane shifts in the westbound lane of West Castillo Avenue will be marked. Flag workers will be present to direct traffic when equipment is being moved.
The City of St. Augustine is encouraging motorists to seek alternate routes to avoid the increased traffic at what was an already very congested intersection.
The city says the road will be cleared in time for Nights of Lights, which begins on November 23.
