Leaders of Duval County have decided to close the Beaches at midnight Sunday until further notice ahead of Hurricane Dorian.
WJCT News partner News4Jax reported Sunday that everyone is being asked to stay off the beach and out of the water. Experts said even wading in the ocean can be dangerous.

City officials and Ocean Rescue personnel have closed all activity on the water of the Atlantic Ocean due to extremely dangerous ocean conditions. Large and destructive surf, deadly rip currents and hurricane-force winds are expected from Hurricane Dorian.
This closure also applies to kite-boarders, jet skiers, swimmers as well as boaters.
If you see someone on in the water, officials want you to call 911. They said the water is not only NOT safe for beachgoers but also for professional ocean rescue responders.
Residents are also asked to stay out of the Intracoastal Waterway.
Possible evacuation orders and other closures for the area will likely be announced for the beaches area Monday, according to a news release.
