Chef Kenny Gilbert has closed his Gilbert’s Social restaurant at 4021 Southside Blvd.
“It’s with great sorrow that my Gilbert’s Social team and I announced the close of the restaurant effective on 10/25/19,” Gilbert wrote on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
He said he and his team decided not to renew the lease on the building and focus on his other existing restaurant, Gilbert’s Underground Kitchen in Fernandina Beach.
Gilbert also said he would also “focus our efforts on new projects.”
In January, Gilbert announced he would no longer be affiliated with Gilbert’s Southern, Gilbert’s Hot Check, Gilbert’s Beach BBQ and Seachasers Lounge.
Gilbert gained national notoriety after appearing in Season 7 of Bravo’s Top Chef.
He also won alternative newspaper Folio Weekly’s Best Chef in the Best of Jax 2018 readers’ poll.
Gilbert said all Gilbert's Social gift cards, promotions, large-party reservations and turkey orders will be honored at his restaurant at 510 S. 8th St. in Fernandina Beach.
