The city of Jacksonville will launch fireworks celebrating the 4th of July at six locations across town for the second year in a row.
The number of fireworks displays was expanded last year because the COVID-19 pandemic limited how many people could attend the city’s usual Downtown display. The city has decided to keep the increased number of displays, while returning Downtown in-person festivities to pre-pandemic levels.
"With the success of our celebrations last year, we’d like to maintain that momentum and
create an even better experience,” Mayor Lenny Curry said in an email sent to WJCT News.
Fireworks will be launched at 9:45 p.m from these locations:
Downtown Jacksonville
St. Johns Town Center
FSCJ North Campus
The Avenues Mall
Trinity Baptist Church
Ed Austin Regional Park
The Downtown Jacksonville location will have viewing locations on the St. Johns River’s North and South banks. A family fun zone, food trucks and a 5 p.m. concert at Riverfront Plaza will also be a part of downtown festivities.
