Elections officials across the country have been under attack as they administer elections during a pandemic - while they also fended off efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. In this climate of intimidation and violence, some are leaving the job.
And in some instances, the open positions they’re leaving behind are being sought by people who espouse the Big Lie, people “who have been most activated by the conspiracies surrounding the 2020 election.”
Election security experts Lawrence Norden and Derek Tisler from the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law published "Addressing Insider Threats in Elections," which details the dangers posed by election officials who believe in the Big Lie and provides steps for local, state, and federal government to secure election systems against insider threats.
