Plans are in the works to bring a new spaceport to Camden County, Georgia.
Supporters of the proposed port include everyone from Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.
However, a vocal contingent of local residents is speaking out against the spaceport. In particular, they say they’re worried about the impact of launching experimental rockets over the environmentally sensitive Cumberland Island National Seashore.
Steve Weinkle, a Camden County resident who’s part of a group of folks in South Georgia opposing the spaceport, joined us for a closer look.
Going Green: Sandhill Crane Preservation
The popular restaurant Crane Ramen, and the North Florida Land Trust have teamed up to raise funds and awareness for sandhill crane preservation. Free Art Instruction
Jacksonville’s Performers Academy is offering free art instruction to high schoolers from a Title I school, those involved or referred from Juvenile Justice, or involved with Family Support Services. Ebony Payne-English and Kathryn McAvoy with the program joined us with more information.
