Local parents are suing to stop the use of armed safety assistants in the Duval County Public Schools.

At the same time, a measure that would arm Florida teachers is moving ahead in Tallahassee. It was passed Tuesday in the Florida Senate.

We examined the issue with Florida Education Association Vice President Andrew Spar.

14th Annual Dining Out for Life

On Thursday diners can support a charitable cause on the First Coast simply by going out to eat.

Several local restaurants will donate a percentage of their proceeds to the North Florida AIDS Network as part of the organization’s 14th Annual Dining Out for Life Event. The full list of restaurants participating this year is available here.

Duval Draft night is this Thursday - and it’s going to the dogs, literally.

The Pet Paradise Park located inside TIAA Bank Field (the NFL’s only in-stadium dog park) will feature autographs by Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo and plenty of adorable pups.

Pet Paradise President and CEO Fernando Acosta-Rua and Rosie the Boxer visited Studio 5 with a preview.
