Aldi has announced it will start mandating customers wear facemasks on July 27, while the mandate at Whole Foods Market went into effect as stores opened Monday, July 20.
“Our new face covering policy is an enhanced safety measure intended to help limit the spread of COVID-19. All ALDI employees will continue to wear face coverings, as they have for months,” Aldi announced in a Friday news release.
Aldi is encouraging any customer who is unable or unwilling to wear a face covering. to visit shop.aldi.us for grocery delivery or curbside pickup in many locations.
Whole Foods said it will provide face masks at the entrance of its stores for customers who do not have their own face covering.

Last week a growing list of the nation’s largest supermarkets and businesses announced mandatory mask policies, including CVS, Publix, Target and Walmart, while Harveys and Winn-Dixie announced masks would continue to be encouraged for shoppers, but not mandatory.
