Congressman Al Lawson; Protest-related Arrests; 89.9 FM Adding More News Coverage

The Jaxson
Protestors in Downtown Jacksonville, Saturday, June 6

Protests continued in and around Jacksonville - and around the country - this weekend.

Locally, thousands of people - including several City Council Members - turned out to peacefully protest against racism, criminal justice reform and police brutality over the weekend.

North Florida Representative Al Lawson joined us to discuss these issues, and how they could impact this year’s election races -  especially the one for president  - and more.

Protest-Related Arrests

Dozens of people were arrested in Jacksonville during protests the last weekend of May.

One of them was local documentary filmmaker Bernardo Santana, an Emmy award-winning producer who was recording the protests for a future project.

But he said his work was cut short when police grabbed him from behind and arrested him in front of the Duval County Courthouse. He shared his story with us.
