COVID-19 & Protests; Recovering From COVID-19; Scholastic Art & Writing Award Winner

Protestors filled the steps of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in Downtown Jacksonville Saturday.

The U.S. Surgeon General said Monday to expect new outbreaks of the coronavirus resulting from the nationwide protests - protests that have seen thousands of people gather in close proximity - over the death of George Floyd.

Marko Predic, an Infection Preventionist at UF Health Jax, joined us with more.

Recovered COVID-19 Patient

We hear a lot about deaths from COVID 19, but more often than not, people recover from the virus. One person who did is John Dondero, a certified financial planner in St. Johns County. He shared his story with us.

Local Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Winner

The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards recognize student achievements in the visual and literary arts. This year, a local student, Luz Manuñga, a senior at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, is being honored. She joined us along with Daniel Embree, Director of National Programs for the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, the non-profit organization that presents the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, to preview Thursday's virtual awards ceremony.
