In an effort to help expedite relief funds for the food and beverage industry, which has been devastated by the coronavirus crisis, a locally-led coalition of more than 115 industry owner/operators has sent a letter to Gov. Ron DeSantis urging him to provide immediate support.
Restaurants across the country want you to take part in the Great American Takeout and order takeout or delivery. It’s one way to keep the industry going since most eateries have closed their doors to limit the spread of coronavirus. Chef Dwayne Beliakoff, is the co-founder of The Bread and Board in 5 Points. He helped facilitate the letter to DeSantis and joined us with more. The public can support their efforts by signing the petition they've created.

Economy
In response to the effect COVID-19 has had on the economy, Congress is reportedly close to a massive stimulus package. Dr. Parvez Ahmed is with UNF’s Coggin College of Business, and joined with more information.
St. Augustine Distillery Making Hand Sanitizer
The St. Augustine Distillery is doing its part to help people during the coronavirus outbreak. Since hand sanitizer is short in supply, the distillery is using alcohol to create its own hand sanitizer, which is being provided to first responders, and will also sell to raise funds for local nonprofits. Mike Diaz is with the distillery and told us about the program.
Cultural Council
Another segment of the economy that’s been hit hard by the coronavirus crisis are artists and cultural institutions. But people can continue to support this community while practicing social distancing. Joy Young is CEO of the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville and she told us more. The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville has created the public group #ARTconnectsJAX. The purpose of this Facebook group is to support new work, and to encourage, educate and entertain and to bring hope and healing at a time when we need it most.
