Urban planners have long looked to have an educational institution in the heart of the city — and Florida Coastal School of Law, it turns out, has long wanted to be downtown.
Now, the law school wants to make that move.
While searching for space in the core, the for-profit school is also looking for partners to move in with it, creating a legal-focused collaborative space.
The idea, the school says, is to work with lawyers or legal interest groups who would be interested in cohabiting. For now, Florida Coastal is working to lease out about 20 percent of the 220,000 square foot building it occupies.
Whoever leases the space, the school said, would also be part of the eventual downtown location.
