Jacksonville To Host Public Engagement Workshops On Sea Level Rise, Coastal Flooding

Flooding in Jacksonville during Hurricane Irma.
Robert Torbert

The city of Jacksonville plans to put on a series of public engagement workshops on sea level rise and coastal flooding.

The goal of the workshops, which are being hosted by the city’s Planning and Development Department, is to increase public awareness of various neighborhoods’ vulnerability to sea level rise and flooding and to get input from the community on priorities for flood mitigation strategies.

Each workshop will cover similar information so the city is encouraging residents to attend whichever workshop fits their schedule.

Those who plan to attend are being asked to review information posted in this virtual “community room” prior to the workshop. Maps, presentations and surveys will be posted there to inform workshop discussions.

  • Greater Arlington/Beaches; Wednesday, Feb 17; 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.
  • Southeast; Friday, Feb. 19; 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.
  • Urban Core; Monday, Feb. 22; 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
