Yuno, who grew up in Jacksonville's Arlington area, is gaining recognition across the country and in Europe for his music.

He has been named frtyfve’s “Hottest Artist in the World,” and he has landed on the song-of-the-summer 2018 playlist alongside Childish Gambino and Beyoncé.

His lead single, “No Going Back,” has been played more than 2 million times on Spotify since it was released last year. Yuno told Melissa Ross of First Coast Connect that his album’s musical influence is mostly hip-hop but “it’s a mixture of a lot of things that I like to listen to.”

Yuno was never formally trained as a musician and has been self-releasing music on the internet since 2010. All recordings were done from his bedroom. He even made his own music video with his cousin for “No Going Back,” parts of which were filmed at the  Regency Square Mall.

His EP Moodie is getting attention from all over the country. The album was released on the Sub Pop label – home to Seattle grunge icons Nirvana and Soundgarden, as well as modern folkies Iron and Wine and psychedelic singer-songwriter Father John Misty.

Yuno toured around the United States and Europe in 2018 and will open for Matt & Kim at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on February 15.

The next step in Yuno’s musical journey is creating his own instrument for a specific sound for a new album he is currently working on.
