JEA Investigation; Wearable Healthcare Devices; Gen. WORKS; Love Letters

Thursday on First Coast Connect with Melissa Ross, we started with the latest on the Jacksonville City Council's investigation into JEA.

Council PresidentScott Wilson  has said it is important to get to the bottom of the what happened as the public may not learn much about the federal investigation if there are no charges. City Councilman and former federal prosecutor Rory Diamond joined us. He is leading the City Council committee investigating the failed attempt to privatize JEA.

Wearable Healthcare Devices

Wearable healthcare devices continue to be developed at a fast past. These cutting-edge devices can be anything from an inhaler that detects lung cancer to a bra that can sense breast cancer. As incredible as this technology seems, there is concern surrounding the privacy and security of these devices. Dr. Joseph Sirven, professor and Chair Emeritus of Neurology for the Mayo Clinic joined us to talk about the latest devices and what’s on the way.

Generation WORKS

Generation W founder Donna Orender joined us to talk about Generation WORKS, a dedicated day of service that harnesses the energy and leadership of women and girls. WJCT is participating through a pairing with Rethreaded.

Love Letters

Love Letters, a story about childhood friendship blossoming into an adult love story, has returned to the Alhambra Theatre. The show was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama. The leads of the show, Tod and Lisa Booth, joined us to discuss the play. It runs through February 9.
