Three new ballot initiatives that will help make it easier for Floridians to vote have been proposed. The initiatives are being led by former State Representative and founder of People Over ProfitsSean Shaw

Shaw’s three main amendments that he hopes to pass by 2022 include: automatically registering Floridians who are renewing their driver's licenses to vote, allowing Floridians to register to vote at polling places on election day, and undoing a provision that required ex-felons hoping to register to vote to pay outstanding court fines, fees, and restitution. The proposed amendments that he has presented are all based on existing policies from states such as Rhode Island and California.

Shaw joined us to discuss his proposed amendments.

READ USA

With students out for the summer, READ USA is trying to ensure that they continue to read over the break. The organization hopes to help children in underprivileged communities by presenting children with a peer to peer program, and free book fairs which provides students with three free books.

City Council member, and Read USA CEO Terrance Freeman, joined us to discuss the organization’s efforts.
