Regeneron; IPCC Report; Rotary Gives Back; Green Chamber Awards

Tuesday is the first day people with COVID-19 can start getting free monoclonal antibody treatments for the disease at the Downtown Jacksonville Main Library.

There are published studies that show Regeneron reduces covid hospitalizations by as much as 70%.  Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry’s office said Monday night in an email to WJCT News that there is a standing order in Florida signed by the State Surgeon General that allows patients to receive this treatment without a prescription or referral if administered by an eligible health care provider.

IPCC Report 

There is a new report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.  The latest data proves that world leaders must drastically scale up their plans to curb carbon dioxide emissions to avoid the consequences of a warming world. Florida is at the highest risk in the country for climate change.  

Quinton White directs Jacksonville University’s Marine Science Research Institute. White will give a talk on Friday at the  First Coast Tiger Bay Club on how climate change is affecting the St. Johns River. He spoke with us about what the audience can expect.

Roatary Gives Back

The Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra wants to give back to healthcare employees who have been working hard to care for their communities throughout the pandemic. Bob Wiltfong from The Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra gave us a preview of what the club is doing to help.  

Green Chamber Awards

Blue Leaf LandscapingEcologel Solutions, and The Florida Green Building Coalition have been named recipients of the 2021 Water Quality and Resource Awards by the North Florida Green Chamber of Commerce.  The Green Chamber presented the annual awards in four categories in recognition of August as National Water Quality Month.  The Green Chamber’s executive director Christina Kelcourse spoke to us and shared what makes these companies deserving.
