Alyx Carrasquel, center, is the intake coordinator at the Florida Access Network. She was one of the estimated 2,000 people who attended an abortion rights rally in front of the Duval County courthouse on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. The rally came amid the publication of a draft opinion of the United States Supreme Court that would overturn Roe v Wade, the 1973 ruling that made abortion legal in the United States. The court has not made a final ruling on the law.

In response to the leaked Supreme Court draft overturning Roe v. Wade, Florida Access Network and Women’s March Jacksonville will hold a rally this Saturday at the downtown Duval County Courthouse. The Supreme Court makes their official decision on abortion rights in June. Many states have prepared trigger laws that could ban abortion if Roe v. Wade is overturned.
