On Wednesday’s show: No more 'free kill'?

Advocates say Florida’s so-called “free kill” law gives a pass to bad doctors. The 35-year-old law created a carve-out in medical negligence cases, preventing family members from filing malpractice claims if the victim is older than 25, unmarried and either childless or the parent of adult children. A new bill, sponsored by Jacksonville Sen. Clay Yarborough, would reverse the existing law. We talk to two families sharing their stories in Tallahassee and urging lawmakers to support Senate Bill 734.

Guests:

  • Cindy Jenkins, advocate whose 25-year-old daughter, Taylor, died in 2023 after treatment at a Florida hospital.
  • Sabrina Davis, advocate whose 62-year-old father, Keith, died in 2020 at a Tampa hospital.

Then, recovering from a devastating explosion, a local food truck owner resumes her advocacy for healthy living. We talk to her about food as medicine, for both humans and the planet.

Guest: Anna Coleman, founder of My V Spot food truck.

And, 10 people with five minutes and a story to tell. We preview an upcoming Bab’s Lab story slam with a theme of breaking barriers — and rules.

Guests:

  • Julia Ivanisova, visual artist.
  • Melanye Rodriguez, storyteller and visual artist.
