St. Johns River Ferry, St. Augustine Amphitheatre Go Mobile With New Apps

Commuters and concertgoers on the First Coast have two new free sources of information available on their smartphones.

On Thursday the St. Augustine Amplitheatre announced the release of a new app available on both Apple devices and Android phones.

The app, developed and donated by New York City-based NY App Sales LLC to St. Johns County Cultural Events Division, provides info including venue events listings, links to direct ticketing and music from artists performing at the amplitheatre.

The app will also allow the venue to send users notifications in the event of event changes or inclement weather delays.

Earlier this month, the City of Jacksonville’s Information Technologies Division released JaxFerry, an application to provide real-time information on the St. Johns River Ferry.

JaxFerry lets users track the arrival and departure times of the ferry and provided the current location and heading information. The ferry schedule, fares, and service alerts are also included.

These two programs are just the latest additions to the local info app landscape.

In July, The Jacksonville Public Library launched the JaxLibrary app, allowing patrons to renew a book, place one on hold or download an e-book.

The JaxLibrary app was funded through a donation by the Friends of the Jacksonville Library.
