Snow storms heading to the eastern seaboard have resulted in thousands of flight cancellations. Jacksonville International Airport had 29 canceled flights as of Friday around lunchtime.
Jacksonville Aviation Authority spokeswoman Debbie Jones advises passengers to check their flight’s status before coming to the airport. She says, “We highly recommend that passengers highly check their flight status before they leave to come to the airport.”
Some airlines like Southwest, Delta and American Airlines are opting to issue travel waivers for passengers to rebook at later dates. Passengers traveling between now and Sunday are eligible for the waivers.
The National Weather Service predicts feet of snowfall, with Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Philadelphia’s being hit the hardest.
