Jaguars Sell Out Additional Playoff Tickets In 5 Minutes

Updated 12/29 at 4:45 p.m.:

It’s official. The Jacksonville Jaguars’ say their first NFL playoff game in a decade is sold out.

After the initial batch of tickets EverBank Field sold out in a little over an hour, the team came up with an additional 3,500 hundred seats or so.

They went on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, and, the Jags said they were gone by 10:05.

Twelve hundred standing-room-only tickets went just as quickly.

The team said altogether, 69,132 fans will attend their playoff game the weekend of Jan. 6.

Updated 12/28 at 3 p.m.:

Following Wednesday’s rapid sellout, Thursday morning the Jaguars sought and received permission from the National Football League and sponsors to remove branded tarps and sell additional seats for the home playoff game next weekend.

The additional 3,501 seats will go on sale Friday, Dec. 29 at 10 a.m. via www.jaguars.com/playoffs.

According to a news release, sponsorships for the tarps are sold on a season-long basis.

Tickets will only be available online, and no walk-up requests will be taken at the box office.  After those tickets are sold, the team will also make a limited number of standing-room-only tickets available for purchase.

Original story below:

Fans hoping to see the Jacksonville Jaguars in their first home playoff game since the 1999 season  may be out of luck. The Jags announced Wednesday that tickets to the game in January sold out in just an hour after they went on sale to the general public.

“The response from Jaguars fans has been nothing short of outstanding,” said Chad Johnson, Jaguars senior vice president of sales and service in a email. “Momentum from the end of the season home games has been building, and the atmosphere at our first playoff game in nearly two decades will undoubtedly continue to be electric.  We’re thrilled for the team and our fan base to have the chance to experience the postseason once again.”

The Jaguars say a limited number of additional seats may become available over the next several days if additional inventory is released from the NFL, visiting team and other parties.

If more tickets become available the Jaguars will post the information on its social media outlets.

The Jaguars are encouraging fans to make smart choices when seeking reseller tickets, saying  fans should purchase only from verified providers that include Ticketmaster and NFL Ticket Exchange.

Presale tickets for existing season ticket members went on sale on Tuesday, Dec. 26. Following the presale window, the general public had access to remaining inventory beginning Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m.

The Jaguars’ upcoming AFC Wild Card game will be played on either January 6 or 7 at EverBank Field. This will be the Jaguars’ first home playoff game since the 1999 season.
