Federal forecasters are predicting a slower than usual Atlantic hurricane season this year, but officials warn that it only takes one storm to cause widespread damage and death.
Forecasters are predicting eight to 13 named tropical storms this year, three to six of which could rise to hurricane strength.

WJCT's Michelle Corum spoke with Duval County Emergency Preparedness Planner Alex Pellom about having a family plan assembled to lessen the impact of disasters.

You can find more on how to create a family communication plan at JaxReady.com. WJCT is your official media outlet for emergency management information.
