April 16 marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of Jacksonville University. To celebrate that milestone, JU is performing community development projects throughout the Arlington area.
City Councilman Ray Holt and City Councilman Stephen Joost, both Republicans, endorsed incumbent Democratic Mayor Alvin Brown for election. The surprise cross-party endorsements come only three days after Republican Jimmy Holderfield, the former candidate for sheriff endorsed Democratic candidate Ken Jefferson.
A recent poll shows 84 percent of voters in Florida approve of medical marijuana use if prescribed by a doctor. However, polls in 2013 and 2014 showed 80 percent of voting Floridians supported medical marijuana, yet the ballot initiative in November 2014 fell short of the 60 percent needed to pass the amendment.

A judge has allowed a New York woman to file for divorce over Facebook. Since the wife could not legally serve the papers to her husband herself, the judge allowed her attorney to sign into the wife's account and send the husband a link to a website with the summons or an image of the summons.
