On this episode of First Coast Connect with Melissa Ross, we heard from the chairman of the Duval County Public School Board, Warren Jones, on the half-cent sales tax proposal to fund school repairs and construction.

Jones joined us to explain the latest moves in the board's legal battle to hold a sales tax referendum. If approved by voters, the tax would run for 15 years and could potentially raise $1.2 billion for school repairs and maintenance.

The Iowa Caucuses takes place on Monday, February 3. Contributor and former Iowa resident Mike Favo gave his insight on the caucuses.

Lauren Rickoff with the Jewish Federation and Foundation of Northeast Florida told us about the second annual Night Out With The Federation, coming up Thursday, February 6. The funds raised will go toward security training, food assistance for local Holocaust survivors and scholarships for grade-school Jewish education.
