Violent crime continues to be an issue in Jacksonville.
On Wednesday, Mayor Curry said during a press conference that he is working with Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams, State Attorney Melissa Nelson and local community groups and nonprofits to address its causes.

Black Women's Equal Pay Day
August 13 is Black Women's Equal Pay Day. Nationally, Black women make $0.62 for every white man's dollar. In Florida, this figure is $0.60.
AAUW Florida has sponsored research on the economic security of working Black women, and the AAUW's Jacksonville branch contributed to the sponsorship.
