Our Friday media roundtable highlighted the top stories of the week in Northeast Florida. Joining us on air were Hanna Holthaus of the Florida Times-Union, Claire Heddles of Jacksonville Today, Dan Scanlan of WJCT News and regular contributor Charles Griggs.
Among the stories:
- Inauguration: Mayor Donna Deegan was sworn in Saturday, in front of a large and diverse crowd. We discussed what her first weeks in office looked like and also the budget that will be presented soon.
- Riverfront Plaza: Construction is scheduled to begin again at Riverfront Plaza. Jaxons also refer to this as the former Landing site, Lenny’s Lawn and the Lawnding.
- Duval Schools: Claire gave us insight into bus cutbacks discussed at Duval County Public Schools.
- Ben Frazier: The funeral for the late community activist will be 11 a.m. Saturday. All services will be at The Bethel Church, 215 Bethel Baptist St. in Jacksonville.
